Dogs from Our Past
RiverRun's BoAnna TDI CGC "Boey"
August 26, 2001 - June 27, 2014 CH Terbo Badd to the Bone x CH Hollyanna CD Bred by Amy Hanson I lost a piece of my heart today - a friend, a teacher, my heart dog. There are no words that adequately describe how special this girl was. Boey was our first Border Collie that opened the door to this amazing breed. We extend our sincere thanks to Mark and Amy Hansen at RiverRun Border Collies for the opportunity to have Boey. Boey was exceptionally brilliant (a real 'brainiac'), very friendly, intuitive, and held the title of 'family clown'. She knew every word in the book including many that we spelled. Boey always amazed us with what she understood and remembered. Boey would catch rain drops and snowflakes in the air, played soccer like a pro, hunted mice and gophers better than our barn cats, and thought snakes were put on this earth for her own fun. If Boey's best friend - - the ATV - - was outside, you would find her laying right next to it just waiting for that chance to run. Boey was always eager to learn new things and loved to show off her abilities. Obedience was a breeze for Boey and she earned her CGC and TDI with ease. She visited elementary classes to demonstrate dog obedience and the different kinds of tricks that dogs can learn. There was never a dull moment with Boey around. She was a 'let's go - do it all' kind of girl. Boey was truly our Princess. |

BonniDune Dashing Impression "Dash"
July 3, 2004 - January 19, 2016 DC Lydeardlea Angel in Disguise HXAs HSBs X CH Tainsh New Dawn At BonniDune HSAs STDs Bred by Kelly Whiteman Words cannot express the ache in our hearts and the emptiness we feel losing our Dash. His steadfast devotion and companionship went unquestioned. Dash was the kind of dog that doesn't come along often with a presence about him that just said "wow" - he was so very special in every way. Dash was a combination of the top Australian, British, New Zealand, and American show and herding lines of several Dual Champions including his dad Joey, DC Lydeardlea Angel in Disguise HXAs HSBs, and fabulous grandpa Duncan, VX CHX DC Majestic Outlander CDX HXAs OTDs HCT TDI. Dash was put together very nicely. He was a solid boy, well balanced with good bones and nice angles and he appeared to float across the ground. Dash was not only a 'dashing' dog, but exceptionally smart, extremely clever, very affectionate, fun loving, and had a 'heart of gold'. Dash was always happy and you can see it in his eyes - - they truly smiled. Dash was 'Mr. Front and Center' for everything and absolutely loved hearing that he was our handsome man. Dash was quite a character. Fortunately, Dash passed all of the traits we love onto his offspring, including our Viz and Viva. Before coming to Emerald, Dash injured his left hind leg, and, as a result he cannot compete in the show ring. We were so incredibly pleased with Dash. He was one fantastic dog! We cannot thank Kelly Whiteman (BonniDune Kennel) enough for allowing us to add Dash to our family. |

Wildblue Echo of Whispers "Tipper"
September 15, 2005 - January 16, 2017 CH Wildblue Echoes of Thunder x Aus CH Rhonabwy Secret Whispers ADX JD Bred by Deanne Veselka Our hearts break with saddness at the loss of our darling Tipper. Her genuine soft and gentle manner along with her sweet expressive face will be truly missed. Tipper was a pretty gold and white color with incredible dark eyes and the most beautiful face. She had a very sweet, lovable personality, was very outgoing and such a real people-pleaser. Tipper loved to swim, play ball, and kill the squeaker. She also played a fierce game of "tug". Tipper thought that running free with the ATV was the best thing ever, especially when she could jump in the pool afterwards to cool off. She wore that 'aahhh, this feels great' look all over her face. Our thanks to Deanne Veselka of Wildblue Border Collies for letting this darling girl come to Minnesota. |

IntCH NatCH Emerald Dashing Vision "Viz"
August 24, 2009 - September 20, 2017 BonniDune Dashing Impression x Wildblue Echo of Whispers Bred by Karla Reinhart and Lindsay Kahnert The day was a blur and we hurt from the sadness of unexpectedly saying goodbye to our beloved Viz. He was so very special to us. Viz was the son of our Dash and Tipper. He was a big boy with substantial bone - a vision of strength. Viz was exceptionally bright and had a wonderfully kind and gentle personality. He was so much like his dad, Dash, always there when you needed him. Viz had a presence about him that all the dogs respected. He was a quiet leader of the Border Collies, keeping all the youngsters in line with very gentle persuasion. Viz was our resident goose dog and chased away the pesky pigeons without being asked. He adored people but especially children of all sizes and had the patience of a saint with them. Viz was extremely passionate about all of our games (e.g. snow Frisbee, ball, ATV races, sprinkler and hose games) - imagine that! Viz was also an avid fisher dog and spent hours on the dock waiting for a fish to be landed. Viz had a specialty though, which was landing kisses when you least expected it. |

IntCH NatCH Wildblue Milis Orain of Emerald "Tulla"
January 18,2008 - January 21,2019 CH Wildblue Caoirean x Wildblue Tartan Mist Bred by Deanne Veselka Tulla is from the very handsome Keeran and adorable Mist of Wildblue Border Collies in Colorado. She is the spitting image of her mom, only in black and white. Tulla's name, Milis Orain, loosely translates to 'Sweet Song' is Gaelic. Tulla is a darling girl who is very intense and focused, yet so gentle. She is also the most creative one when it comes to finding something to do - sometimes good and sometimes not-so-good (my shoes are her ultimate favorite toy). She is sharp as a tack and as sweet as they come! Tulla has a soft and feminine personality. Tulla is a very focused girl and is serious participant in all of our games. She eagerly assisted Viz with chasing away the pesky geese and pigeons from the yard and field, and even thought the Starling birds should be chased from the trees. Tulla is built quite nicely with great angles and a very graceful outline and moves like a dream. She has a black and white coat (carries gold and dilute), really pretty dark, dark brown eyes, slightly tipped ears, and exceptionally striking markings. This lady is a treasure, and we are so excited that Deanne Veselka at Wildblue Border Collies let Tulla join our family. |
Wildblue Tartan Tempest "Joy"
June 27, 2003 - February 3, 2014 CH Majestic to the Rescue x CH Haftaplay's Wildblue Storm Bred by Deanne Veselka and Jennifer Beachler Joy had a very easy-going temperament and was such a sweetheart, but beneath that cool calm demeanor was a real pistol. This darling girl was my shadow - - she was wherever I was. When we walked in the fields, I found it amusing that Joy always walked right behind me in an 'S' pattern, like 'move along'. Joy loved running with the ATV followed by a dunk in the pool to cool off. Unfortunately, Joy had hip dysplasia, and thankfully it never appeared to bother her. Joy was black and white with medium brown eyes, cute tipped ears, and a beautiful head with an absolutely adorable face. We were so thrilled when Deanne Veselka at Wildblue Border Collies let this little girl join our family. She was a real "Joy" from the moment we got her. |
Quantum Leap PeekaBlu in Red "Peeka"
July 15, 2003 - December 22, 2010 CH Quantum Leaps Old Tru Blu To HSA x Quantum Leaps Peekaboo Gal HS Peeka was a thinker and never missed a beat. She was very focused and put her "all" into everything she did. Peeka loved to work and was a fantastic obedience dog. Unfortunately, she wasn't real keen about being around strange dogs or people. She definitely preferred being on the farm. Peeka loved to play ball, Frisbee, and soccer, and but sadly we had to limit her activities due to moderate hip dysplasia (diagnosed at only 8 months old). However, all those fun activities were a distant second to going for a ride with Pat in the truck or laying under his desk! Peeka was a very lovable dog that always required a certain quota of hugs, and actually hugged you back. She greeted us every morning with rooo-rooo-rooo, which I'm sure translated to, "it's about time." Peeka was a red merle with very striking markings, mysterious light green eyes, and OH MY...those ears!! |
Before Border Collies...
Daisanna Lee CGC "Daisy"
April 15, 1998 - September 15, 2009 Daisy was dearly loved and is incredibly missed! Known as: -Ever Faithful - Ever Vigilant - Director of Farm Security - Leader of the Porch Pooch Patrol - Bouncing, Barking, Fur Bag - and the Beautiful Barn Beast Daisy was one-of-a-kind. At the age of 11, the self- appointed director of farm security took her job as seriously as she did on day one. Daisy was ever vigilant about 'watch duty', moving from post to post throughout the day. Nothing escaped her watchful eye; be it a rabbit, deer, or jogger, Daisy sounded the alert. Of course, all of our visitors received a well announced greeting and Daisy was positive they stopped by just to see her. Daisy was so kind, loving, and gentle to everyone (and everything) she met. She took all the younger critters under her wing. Daisy was great at obedience, loved to ride on trailers at the farm, won most of our hide-and-seek games, and without a doubt took top honors for being the most vocal. It's time for you to rest now Daisy, we'll be fine. |
GraceLin Rose CGC "Grace"
July 24, 1998 - May 6, 2010 We lost an incredible friend today, simply from old age. The tears flow easily when we think of her, but to speak of her makes us smile. Grace was Daisy's sidekick. The two were inseparable while Daisy was alive. Grace inherited Daisy's top spot and provided a strong but quiet leadership for the Border Collies. She loved to show the Borders that she was just as spunky as they were and kept up with them until the very end. Grace was a fantastic 'mouser', a skill that she used to roust up a variety of rodents, and unfortunately a few skunks. She took great pride in daily 'mail call' and carrying back those important pieces of communication from the outside world. Her favorite thing to do was to 'retrieve' objects (gee, imagine that!) or help to carry things when her human needed an 'extra hand'. Not letting those talents go to waste, Grace was truly 'a dream' to have at horse shows, making countless trips between the horse trailer and the stalls to deliver equipment/supplies. Her ingenuity in negotiating doorways and other obstacles was more than impressive. Grace excelled at obedience and always caught the eye of strangers - and a few policemen - as she pranced along at my side carrying her own leash! In her last few years, Grace took great pleasure in relaxing on the porch and taking an occasional dip in the pool to cool off. |
Our Show Horses
CWA Ali Dhakkar "Dhak"
June 21, 1992 - May 18, 2020 Dhak was a very special boy that loved being a spoiled horse. He loved his routine and let us know when it was time to go in, or time to have his grain. He was wise and gentle and it earned him the privilege of walking free in the yard to graze. He also liked to follow me and the dogs around the yard as we played our ball and Frisbee games. Dhaks was more than tolerant of the Border Collies' antics to get him to run and he also seemed understand he needed to be gentle if a puppy ventured into the paddock with him. Dhak did some minimal showing in the Halter ring and did well but we didn't pursue a halter career for him. |
SBF Khomotion "Mo"
July 17, 2000 - August 22, 2014 Mo had such a wonderfully curious and playful nature, which occasionally got him into a bit of trouble. He was a very gentle boy that loved being with people whether it was being trained, ridden, groomed, or just walking around. Mo was especially fond of little children, somehow knowing he needed to be very careful around them. His favorite thing was when his 'little people' brought him carrots or mint candy treats. Life on the farm is just not the same without Mo. Mo also did some minimal showing in the Halter ring and did really well but lack of time didn't allow us to pursue a halter career for him. |
CWA Tajalene "Taj"
March 13, 1990 - November 26, 2003 Taj was the sweetest horse ever, with the most kind and gentle spirit. She was a wise girl that loved to gently boss around 'the boys' in the paddock. Taj loved her grooming time and would point with her nose at spots that she wanted scratched. As a thank you she would wiggle her nose back and forth on my arm. Taj was a great show horse that always did well in the ring for Showmanship and Western Pleasure, giving every ride her 'all'. She made it fun for her rider bringing home ribbons from every show. We will certainly miss having Taj in our barn. |
